I was lucky enough to visit Gozo in January with MTB Instruction who were offering the Gozo Emergency Rescue and Response Corps some mountain bike training. During the course the volunteers did basic training in mountain bike handling and bike maintenance. This was followed by a series of practical sessions around the island which focused on how to handle a mountain bike in rough terrain, descend steps and steep banks, all in a controlled manner.
After the training had finished we took in a sun drenched 48k tour of the island taking in as much of the Coastal route as possible. The trails in Gozo were a perfect mix of tough technical climbs and mental descents all to the back drop of some breath taking scenery, not to mention the Moab style limestone which my tyres just stuck to!
Would love to go back and do some more cycling and maybe give some scuba diving a go; one of the best diving spots in Europe.
